2 things:

  1. What filesystem are you using for Linux? Ext2 or ext3? I personally would recommend ext2. A lot of people argue with me that it doesnt make a difference but it does in my opinion. You dont need a journaling filesystem with an Oracle database. Never had before, never will.
  2. Oracle recommends you use RedHat Advanced Server 2.1 for Linux (at least if its RedHat). Due to threading and other enhancements.
