RMAN Clarification

Could someone please give me a clue here.

I am studying oracle and have yet to work with the RMAN software.

When I am configuring RMAN am I suppose to receive some sort of confirmation message after I have typed in my configartion specification.

i.e CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP ON;

Are there any scenarios where RMAN would not give some sort of verification that it has configured the param to the spec?
