Hi ,
i successfully installed the above following the instructions from

http://codah.net/install-oracle9iR2-on-redhat9.html

opened sqlplus /nolog
connected as sysdba

startup nomount
alter database mount

both worked OK

alter database open

failed giving the following error message

Errors in file
/oracledb/opt/oracle/product/9.2.0/rdbms/log/bheema_ora_2314.trc: ORA-01403: no data found
Error 1403 happened during db open, shutting down database USER: terminating instance due to error 1403 Instance terminated by USER, pid = 2314
ORA-1092 signalled during: alter database open ..

from the *.trc file

searched on the web and was told to increase the kernel shmmax from 2147483648

did that but ran out of memory trying to start up the instance

would appreciate any help in solving this.

thanks
