J2EE minus EJB. That would be all the good things (servlets, JSP, JDBC), said from the point of view of a Java/Oracle developer.

Learn EJB only if it gets you to a job, but if you want to work with a database, *any* database, invest some time to learn relational theory first and then how to develop *with* the database, not against it.
