Well, being PC is something I reserve for work. One of the BIG advantages of the Usenet is that PC can be defined as what it really is: pure, unadulterated, "excreta del toro".

J2EE has many advantages. It's a good technology. Unfortunately, it is NOT an "enterprise-wide" technology. In that it only correctly addresses a very narrow range of requirements and only accepts one architectural solution. That is the same as the old monopolistic systems of 20 years ago.

This guy's problem is flaming typical of what I've seen in many J2EE implementations over the last 24 months. Under the umbrella of "vendor independence", this thing only accepts one technological solution and is completely incapable of properly integrating with any pre-existing systems that do not use the same architecture.

What exactly is the difference between that and any other monopoly-driven solution? None.

And I don't give a rat's arse if Larry, IBM, Sun and Co are behind it: it's being used wrongly, and in the wrong context. Period.

:-)

Cheers
