rman 8.1.6 and 8.0.5 compatible?

Hello,
i have a 8.1.6 oracle catalog-database
i use rman from this 8.1.6 catalog-db with other 8.1.6 databases an have no problems
but other dba's say rman works no clean from 8.1.6 to 8.0.5 is this correct?
my init.ora parameter compatible is set 8.1.0 when i set this to 8.0.5 make this problems with my other 8.1.6 databases when i use rman?
