dear all,

In our Oracle8.1.6 database, the init parameter file doesn't have parameters- SORT_AREA_SIZE, SORT_AREA_RETAINED_SIZE, DB_BLOCK_LRU_LATCHES ...etc. It misses many parameters. Does that matter?

Our database is about 20GB datafiles in Solaris E420R Server with two 450MHz CUPs, 2GB RAM. What number should I set in SORT_AREA_SIZE, SORT_AREA_RETAINED_SIZE, DB_BLOCK_LRU_LATCHES ...etc. If I don't put it in, any effects?

Seems, I miss many parameters. Could anyone send me the complete required parameters and default settigns?

Please clarify. Thanks a lot.

regards,
JK
