Something terrible happened to my news server so i'm posting this message through google...i hope the message is ok.

Yes, the patch, that i was applying was 8.1.7.1.0b and there was no /usr/ucb in my PATH. Here are the environment variables for oracle user. Is there something missing?

PATH=/usr/bin::/u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.7/bin:/usr/bin:/etc:/usr/ccs/bin:/usr/openwin/bin:/usr/local/bin NLS_LANG=estonian_estonia.WE8ISO8859P1
ORACLE_BASE=/u01/app/oracle
LOGNAME=oracle
ORACLE_SID=TEST
ORACLE_DOC=/u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.7/doc DISPLAY=juhan:0.0

SHELL=/bin/ksh
ORA_NLS33=/u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.7/ocommon/nls/admin/data
HOME=/home/oracle

TERM=xterm
ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.7 PWD=/home/oracle
TZ=EET As far as i can see, there should be no problems with file permissions, the mount point /u01 and everything below it is owned by oracle. BTW: I haven't created the TEST database yet. I have the ORACLE_SID set because the patch documentation required that.

TIA,
Juhan
