THanks, yes it was a P4, and the server has 2 P3 Processors... Are you sure that it was an oracle bug ? Is there already any patches ?

Is it ona P4? I believe that there is a bug in the JRE supplied with 8i together with workarounds on metalink.

Other things to check. display resolution and colours
