Victor,

I hope some other script shuts-down the database before this script is started. If not; this is what is called a 'fool backup'. Or can you use your export-file to rebuild your database in case of a crash (this means that you can afford to lose a days work).

> tar cvf /dev/rmt0 .

What is written to tape here? This is a relative path-name, I think this is a problem.

It looks a litlle messy.
