I came across this issue today while trolling on metalink. It's listed under bug #1231277 and might pertain to a problem on an SGIport  bug #1112722.

Apparently they've fixed it in 8.1.6 and have a patch for those not ready to upgrade. It's not clear how to get the patch, however.
