Weird ORA-00376 problem ?? Advice needed

Hi,
I have been using a program that uses Oracle as the backend. One of the utilities of this program complains ... ORA-00376:file 256 cannot be read at this time ORA-01110:data file 256: 'out of bounds, range=1 to 30'

When I run the analyze table command on this file. Everything seems fine. Analyze table ... estimate statistics. Analyze table .... validate structure cascade. It fails when I ask it to sample 10 percent. analyze table ... estimate statistics sample 10 percent. The table is very small right now ( 11 rows). Any ideas how I can solve this problem ??
