Hi Jason,

you should have to scripts called "dbstart" and "dbshut". Place them in the arbitrary init.d scripts (I think there is a graphical tool for KDE to do this, but I forgot the name :-( ). For the SuSE dist. there is a scipt doing this automatically.
In addition you have to alter /etc/oratab: For each instance to start, replace the N with a Y.
