ORA-01608 rollbacks are gone !!!

Dear Jan,

two things jump to mind:
1) Why not do a 'shutdown immediate' instead of an abort? Immediate makes sure no instance recovery is needed the next time you startup 2) The cache in your RAID may not have written all of its data at the time you issue the shutdown, resulting in loss of information. Oracle recommends not to use RAID5 systems.
