No, shutdown abort is not more dangerous than pulling the plug. Shutdown Abort does not close or dismount the database, but does shut down the instance.

You're right, the next startup will require instance recovery (which is automatic). However, I still refrain from using Shutdown Abort. I don't believe it is good practice to issue this command.
