Can't delete Bad Instance

I tried to create a new instance today on an NT machine with Oracle8 using the oradim80.exe Instance Manager.
I think my init<sid> file was bad. During the "New" instance creation there was an error.
Now when I try to delete the instance to try again with the oradim Instance Manager I get the error:
ORA-00205 error in identifying the controlfile. I can't get rid of the bad instance. It seems to be only half installed. One of the two services shows up for this instance in the NT services list in the Control panel.
Any ideas?
