Running root.sh after installing Oracle Enterprise Server 8.0.4 under Solaris 2.6, I get the message:

Please raise the ORACLE owner's ulimit as per the IUG.
Leaving common section of Oracle8 root.sh.

  1. Is this a critical failure ? The Installation seems to work so far.
  2. How can I raise ulimit permanently ? (Using unlimit in the shell of user oracle doesn't help.)
  3. What does "as per the IUG" mean ?
