There are two options. First of all, if you are staying in your extended intranet but the navigation takes you out into the cloud (internet) then you should check out your firewall vendor for encryption over the internet between your two intranet sites.

Another one is the Oracle Advanced Network Option. I do not know much about it.. but if you dig enough on the web site you might get more info.

I assume you are talking about the jdbcthin driver from oracle (the other ones use SQL*Net as a transport). This driver makes a direct socket connection to the server. I have no clue how they are protecting this communication. I asked the Beta group at oracle but have not heard a reply.

Clarity from Oracle how the thin diver handles security would be great! If you get info, could you e-mail me? Thanks!
