I never read this one, so I can't comment on it.

I thought that this book was pretty good. I'm sure glad that I own a copy. It goes over tuning of SQL statements and tuning of the database.

Another book that you might want to try is Oracle SQL High Performance Tuning by Guy Harrison. I liked this book too and others have given it high marks!
