Hello there,

Thank you so much for the solution to my problem. Jurij's solutions work like a charm, however I don't really understand why.

I have tried both the outer join solution using the dual table, and the subselect solution, and for the life of me I can't figure out when the result is sorted, so as to return only the top N rows.

I would be very much obliged if you could post a short explanation of what the queries actually do.
