Can't connect to Oracle locally

I've installed Oracle version 8 and now evertime I try to connect DUN comes
up prompting me to connect to the network.  I wanted to run Oracle on my
local PC as I did with 7.3, however when I connected with 7.3 I used 2: as
the service name.  This is not working with version 8.  Any thoughts?
