That was it:
* Wait for at least one night
  • After patching the collector, make sure to have the database instrumented for collection as 3.8.2. of the Install & Admin Guide for CCR tells us.

Once again, something learned. Thanks guys for your time.

Thanks Freek,

sounds a bit like occupational therapy for me ;)

Strange is, that the 10g system did appear within no time (okay, maybe the
lengthy logon process to flash MOS may have saved it), the 11g box fusses
around. But you are right, after I wrote this post, the targets indeed are
holding data now.

But I would still love to see my RDBMS instance there as well!

PS: Uh, writing this, I see there is no %OCM% schema in the DB, must have
been lost during the patch or such. Will fix it & feed back ASAP.

Thanks and regards

It could bet hat you just have to be more patient :-)
I recently installed it at one customer site, and I needed to wait until
the next day to see the systems created (and the targets indeed had no
information until then).

Subject: Oracle Configuration Manager - half working, half not

Dear list,

yesterday I tried Oracle Configuration Manager for the first time.
Installing and configuring it with a 10.2.0.5 DB on Linux worked really
fine and fast.

But the I tried on 11.1.0.7 (Linux x86_64):

* setupCCR asked for user/pw, and registered some targets within Oracle.
But after giving the host a CSI number in MOS, no "System" was created, just some homeless targets (ASM, home dir, * Config Manager, Listener, but not the DB instance for example). None of those targets holds any data or information. They just exist.
* Furthermore, the Configuration manager Collector was not updated to the
recent level, it was still 10.3.0.0.1 after the first collection.
* emCCR collect did not change anything.
Second attempt: patched the Collector manually to 10.3.3.1.0
* emCCR collect once again did not change anything. Only a few homeless
targets visible in MOS. After waiting for some three hours, the third attempt:
* Deactivated all of those added targets in MOS.
* emCCR register to reregister them
* emCCR collect to collect and upload (absolutely no errors, even with
higher log level)
* MOS allows again to select a CSI for the host
* nothing else happens, still no SYSTEM available, still lots of homeless
targets floating around. Still no data within. How can I completely remove a target, not just disabling it? What am I doing wrong here in general? Thanks a lot in advance for any advice or suggestion! -- Mit freundlichem Gruß Martin Klier Senior Oracle Database Administrator ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Klug GmbH integrierte Systeme Lindenweg 13, D-92552 Teunz Tel.: +49 9671/9216-245 Fax.: +49 9671/9216-112 mailto: martin.klier_at_klug-is.de www.klug-is.de ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Geschäftsführer: Johann Klug, Roman Sorgenfrei Sitz der Gesellschaft: Teunz, USt-ID-Nr.
