Of course, the problem with formally requesting it is, how do you file an enhancement request against a package that doesn't exist?

(As of 11gR2, dbms_system isn't documented, with the exception of a sample code block, related to streams, that makes use of dbms_system.ksdwrt.)

I disagree!

However in my defence, I claim ignorance of how Oracle does things internally, but I'm almost 100% certain plain C is used, so, to change a string parameter would be as [simple as] follows:

Perhaps it has never been done because it has not been formally requested?
