In one of our test environment where we had about 10 copies of peoplesoft in a single databse, there were about 1million objects (100,000 per copy) in database.. And a simple statistics backup job would take ages to finish. And use up way too much space to store statistics for 1 million objects.

People created too many objects in 1 installation. About 100,000 per peoplesoft installation. One of the problems you will face having too many Peoplesoft schemas in a single database is your total number of objects in database will keep on growing. And a simple thing like "drop user sysadm_test cascade" can take days to finish.
Have a look at following post.

Yes, that is clearer. In PeopleSoft terminology, a 'PeopleSoft database' exists in a schema (usually SYSADM) in an Oracle database. Unfortunately, the two terms are often used interchangably.
So it is supported to have multiple 'PeopleSoft databases' in multiple schemas in the same Oracle database - but this is not recommended.

You cannot control them separately. I take it you mean if all the schemas were in the same database then the database parameters apply to all The only possible exception is if you have Portal and just one product (such as HR) then you might put them together because they are so tightly bound. Now that's an idea David. regards _________________________ David Kurtz Go-Faster Consultancy Ltd. tel: +44 (0)7771 760660 fax: +44 (0)7092 348865 mailto:david.kurtz_at_go-faster.co.uk web: www.go-faster.co.uk Book: PeopleSoft for the Oracle DBA: http://www.psftdba.com <http://www.psftdba.com/> DBA Blogs: PeopleSoft: http://blog.psftdba.com <http://blog.psftdba.com/> , Oracle: http://blog.go-faster.co.uk <http://blog.go-faster.co.uk/> PeopleSoft DBA Forum: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/psftdba ______________________________________________________________________ Wm Morrison Supermarkets Plc is registered in England with number 358949.
