I also write it to the list as I wrote yopu personally: This is what I line used in my sqlldr config file:

  Col_date "to_date(rtrim('Jan 15 1989 11:00:000AM',':000AM'),'Mon dd yyyy
hh:mi:ss','NLS_DATE_LANGUAGE = American')",
