Vivek,

You can not do the DD to the ASM. You have to take an RMAN backup and restore the ASM and RMAN-switch to have the data files names. I have just migrated a 4TB 9i DB to 4 Node 10gRAC with ASM over the weekend. Just have enough channels allocated for RMAN and keep only one instance (RAC+ASM) during the migration. You will be good to go. With proper planning, I guess you may be able to complete this over a weekend (including minimal testing!).. Good Luck !
