not a cat in hell's chance unless pushed in the way Jared describes. Oracle can concentrate on making an even better database and a tolerable fist of merging and improving their application products first, before they start thinking they are an OS company as well.

It's called core competencies in my view.

On the other hand people seem quite prepared to throw, to pick an example entirely not a random, tested proven clustering filesystems out of the window in order to run a pretty much brand new one from that well known filesystem company Oracle.
