Blade servers are more or less fixed in their size (processors, memory, network interfaces).

If you have an application of which you can clearly predict the load and the changes in the future, a blade server architecture might be a solution. In my experience this is hardly ever the case.

Choosing blade servers is choosing for a concept. The concept of a lot of small identical machines, interchangeable and replaceable. You need to buy the whole package including the management interfaces. Only if you have quite a number of systems in this fashion a blade server architecture might be a solution. Don't buy two blade servers to run your day-to-day-two-tier-application.

Windows... Hmm. Maybe better to buy a pc then.
