Ignorant question here: How do you drop the ONLINE (not standby) redo logs that are on a physical standby (10gR2 on Win2003)? The servers run in MAXIMUM AVAILABILITY mode with LGWR SYNC so the primary online's are writing to the standby's standby logs. Thus, I don't understand why the standby's online logs are even being used. I did reduce the filesize of the online and standby logs on the primary and the standby logs on the standby, but keep getting ora-1624 when trying to drop the online logs on the standby. Why would they be needed for crash recovery? Do I just need to open the standby read-only to drop and recreate them and then go back to managed recovery mode?

Shalom
