Yes, use LMT's

Try to choose a small number of extent sizes. Best if you can separate large from small.

Read the SAME Algorithm paper.

More than a few hundred extents are not bad - read Oracle Perf. Tuning 101 and the myriad of other statements from experienced Oracle dba's about this myth - that multiple extents are bad. They are not! The advantages of LMT's and uniform extents and a small number of extent sizes are many. =20

Subject: Locally Managed Tablespaces

We are upgrading an application that uses an external database to = set=3D20
initial table create parameters. =3D20 I would like to use Locally = Manages
tablespaces and Uniform extent=3D20 sizes, instead of the table create parameters.=3D20

My question is, will Locally Manages tablespaces cause Oracle to ignore=3D20 the table create parameters? (I hope)=3D20 And, if I have = some
tables that are empty, and some that have a million=3D20 rows, what do I use for an initial extent size?=3D20 Do I allocate them all small and = let
the large tables go into extents?=3D20

I don't have the luxury of putting large tables in a separate=3D20 tablespace. Everything is in one schema and one tablespace.=3D20

Hope this is clear.=3D20

Thanks!=3D20
