Erm, we've done this twice now since going to 9i (9.2.0.5.0 on HPUX 11.11). As long as the parameter is still ISSYS_MODIFYABLE, it will be dynamically modified. Like Tom said, unless you manually edit the init.ora, you'll lose those changes on an instance bounce. Rich

        If you rely soly on a PFILE, no you can't unless you restart the = instance which is a pretty hard thing to do in the middle of the day, = especially when there are robots that are your clients.
