In the physical standby scenario, you are basically sending redo logs directly to the database using remote destination and archiver. The only real way to reduce the bandwidth consumption is to decrease the amount of changes you are performing. That will reduce the amount of redo, and that will, in turn, reduce the need for archiving. Murali, are you planning to upgrade your RAC book to 10g? Here is a satisfied customer who would like to see a sequel (not a SQL).
