EXISTING CONFIGURATION SETUP(XP1024):-
- Hardware RAID (1+0) on 4 underlying Disks.
- 4 Units of 14 GB each are created using a Software emulation (OPEN-E,
OPEN-9) on this underlying Hardware RAID (Each Unit is known as Logical
Device [LDEV])
- Each LDEV is assigned to a different Controller port.
- For Online Redo logs, Volume Group [VG] to be created EITHER of a
SINLE LDEV OR by O.S. Software Striping (RAID 0) across 4 LDEVs.
Qs. For Online Redo Logs placing, which of the following 2 options is
better?
- Redo logs if placed on a Single LDEV-VG will have only a single level
of Hardware RAID 1+0 & be assigned to a SINLE Controller port.=3D20
- Redo logs if placed on a 4 LDEV's-VG will have 2 levels Striping
(Both s/w & H/w) But also be assigned to 4 Controller ports.
(NOTE - Ideally Redo logfiles should exist on RAW or NON-Striped, Mirror
Volume.)
Shall provide any details required
Thanks
