Yes I can believe this. Do you really want Oracle to modify core parts of the system quickly and on a one-off basis. Would the resulting db be upgradeable to 9206 or to 10? Are you confident that the testing of a one off pack is as thorough as the testing for a patchset for all customers and all platforms?

In the meantime the 2 available workarounds appear clear.

  1. Don't use RAC.
  2. Use windows not *nix.

:(

One of these workarounds may make more sense than the other....
