Now maybe the time to confess that as I have no original ideas at all - I stole the 'You probably don't need...' for a presentation on how to configure good old standby.

I'm not sure about this. Having gone to the trouble of calling my presentation 'You probably don't need DataGuard' (Central thesis 'cos it'll cost you 20 grand a processor if you have to buy EE and doesn't gain you anything much apart from version 1.2 of a somewhat new product) and having an abstract stating "This will look , using an actual case study, at DR options for Oracle systems that don't require the expense and overhead of Data Guard, OEM and Oracle Enterprise Edition. " I get the following feedback

"I expected this presentation to be about DataGuard itself, rather than about Not using DataGuard."

" I came to this SIG specifically becuase this presentation was on the agenda, because we are about to start using DataGuard and I hoped this presentation would give me a warts-and-all picture of its use. It didn't, which I found somewhat disappointing."

So I think in future presentations given on odd numbered days should be called 'Sean' and presentations given on even numbered days should be called 'Lucy'.
