Select any table privilege allows the duhveloers to get at anything = there is in the database. Personally I like my duhvelopers only seeing = what I want them to. Otherwise I end up with questions as to why I have = a couple of large tablespaces that they can't put their archive or = backup tables in. You know tablespaces like temp & rollback/undo. They = also start asking for other privileges like create or alter tablespace, = create any, drop any, and alter any user, etc... All things that lead = sooner or later to trouble that I end up fixing. One privilege that I = put an end to long time ago was drop any public synonym. I let them = create them, but not drop them. Reason is that some time ago I had a = very severe argument between two duhvelopers on where a public synonym = should point. If they had had it their way the definition would have = changed every half hour. Some things are best left restricted.
