(2nd try -- e-mail hosing up again)

I don't think it's necessarily the tool, but the ODBC driver. Case in = point: Our users can create ad hoc MS Access (The Access of Evil) = queries and reports against our ERP system (don't bother arguing). One = particular report ran in "a few minutes", but after an MDAC "upgrade" = was taking hours. After a little snooping using Quest's Spotlight tool, = I saw that the new improved query was FTSing each table, probably to do = the joining in the Access "database" itself. I've also seen this when a = user moved from WinNoT to WinTuke, even though the version of MS Orifice = didn't change.

In our case, there have been two possible solutions. Since our Oracle = tables are generally linked in Access (as opposed to a make table = query), I've had the user drop all Oracle tables and relink them. If = that doesn't work, the DB must be manually recreated. If there's = another way, no one else seems to know what it is.

GL!
