OT PHP and Oracle

I am trying through php to do select username from v$session

I keep getting Parse error: parse error, unexpected $end in c:\program files\apache group\Apache2\htdocs\actusers.php on line 23

Can anybody help so i can escape the $ char please as this is driving me mental
