When exporting, use native (8.1) Export utility. When importing into 9.2 native Import utility (9.2) will perfectly well read 8.1 export files.

> Bill, why are you trying to export an 8i database with 9i exp?

because i thought i read somewhere that it would work. maybe i'm confusing
it with imp? will 9i imp read an 81 exp file?

it's either that, or i've experienced an ORA 999999 - brain burnt out.;-)
