I have an online backup of my 9i production database on CD. I want to restore it to my home PC, which has a completely different file structure and an empty database. I did the backup with rman. I spent most of Saturday trying this and can not even get rman to look at the backup set on the CD. I'd be real happy if someone can just explain how to restore the spfile and the control file.

Thanks
Randy
