Hi April,

A few years ago in London for a large finance group a colleague and I did a similar job where we used veritas on sun 4500 and 5200 storedge arrays to specify which parts of the physical discs were used so we could control physical locations. We had similar constraints, huge amounts of data loaded overnight into one or two partitioned tables and virtually no changes during the day but hundreds to thousands of users looking at individual records and some large reports running at the same time. We also like jay sought to exploit the fastest parts of the disk.
