So, nodes become aware of how to redirect traffic in case of a failure, as well as how to load balance AIX, right? Trying to load-balance Gigabit is really an exercise in futility - almost all of the performance improvement comes from improved interrupt queuing (and even that is already mitigated on the card through coalescing interrupts). The real benefit is the failover - that works very very well.
