Interesting. From the Oracle Net8 Class Notes, page 2-4

"A service name is an alias for a destination address." "The service name directly maps to a connect descriptor."

I always find networking confusing.

connect descriptor is more like it, since you may load balance the listener. what is the different any way with destination address? is this an exam question or what?
