DBA_DATA_FILES
bytes seems to be the current size
maxbytes is the total size? and possibly includes the max if autoextend is on
Im assuming user_bytes is your quota
No way to get freespace if that is true. If maxbytes includes autoextend then technically you do not have freespace on a tablespace that has not extended since you cannot assume that the space will be available on your hard drive to extend. You hope its planned right, but you dont know. So I assume they mean take MAXBYTES - BYTES, though this is probably wrong.
am I correct?
now DBA_EXTENTS
select tablespace_name, max(bytes)
from dba_extents
group by tablespace_name
assumes that your largest extent is your coalesced free extent, but you cannot assume this. What if you plan poorly and have pctincrease on?
or am I missing something?
