What exactly would you want SMON to do to temporary tablespaces? Temporary
extents are being reused,
as of 8.1.7. V$SORT_USAGE is your best bet. If you're running out of
temporary tablespace, allocate
some more, set autoextend on or let your files be managed by oracle.
