If you are going to be doing any programming, Access 97 Developer's Handbook by Litwin, Getz, and Gilbert. There is also versions of the book for Access 2000 and Access XP. Watch out as there is a book by the same name from M$ and it isn't as good.
To paraphrase the late, great Douglas Adams "Oracle, like Space, is big - really big - you just won't believe how vastly, hugely mind-bogglingly big it is" whereas Access is like Earth and the Vogons are approaching.
