I don't know what you mean by "adding pragmas", but all that the
precompilers do is translate "embedded SQL" into C/C++ calls known as
sqllib.
The SQL in the precompilers aren't any faster than any other API or
mechanism (i.e. OCI), but the "printf()" statements are extremely
lightweight...
