in my case it is a 7 union view and only one part of which will be accessed at any given time. Here we believe in re-using the code. If a view is available, we use that and build something on top of it. We have a super view that is like 6 levels deep and joins 2 huge and heavily accessed tables at every level with other sundry tables ...

No, I have not seen such large SQLs till now.. and I wish to stay away from them in the future.
