RE: AW: RMAN Backup to tape or disk (SAN) ???

   Veritas prices this by the size of the server. Our sys admin recalls a quote of around 8K, but that was a couple of years ago. And we are using NFS mounts as disk storage, so that is much cheaper than SAN. Not being familiar with an MML, that seemed a little more intimidating.

   The other factor was disaster recovery. Our management gave us the criteria "assume all you have is your offsite tape, now verify that you could go to a new server, load what you need to load and then recover the database." We were able to accomplish that with RMAN having written to disk. Maybe that is even easier with an MML writing to a SAN, I wouldn't know.
