Thanks to all who replied to me regarding Back-up. I think RMAN will be good
choice for Back.up.
Thanks and regards,
Santosh

Santosh - You might consider locating an Oracle consultant with experience in backup and recovery procedures to help this client. If the client is paying you under the assumption that you are an Oracle backup and recovery expert, you may be misleading them. Honesty builds long-term relationships.
Be sure the client has archive logging turned on. This increases the options in a backup situation.
Oracle backup discussions tend to be complex because Oracle is used at such a wide variety of sites, all of which have individual requirements. Here is a discussion of some of the issues. http://www.experts-exchange.com/Databases/Oracle/Q_20223776.html
<http://www.experts-exchange.com/Databases/Oracle/Q_20223776.html> Short-term, consider implementing a cold backup strategy. This involves shutting the database down and backing up all the data files.
Then talk to the client about what their goal are. If the database is small and not used off-hours, cold backup may be adequate. If the database is continually used, but the site has no plans to expand greatly, a hot backup scheme may be satisfactory. Otherwise, consider Oracle's RMAN utility which is included with Oracle.

Hello list,
I am implementing a software in Oracle 8.1.7.
The client wants to have the backup and recovery procedure. As of now, they
are using EXPORT utility.
Could any one of you tell me any other utility which the client will be able
to use for Backup of their data ?
Thanks and Regards,
Santosh Varma
